MATERNITY / PARENT TRANSITION COACHING 1:1 SESSIONS

These sessions are for anyone however they identify who is becoming or a new parent. They can be stand alone but often follow on nicely from a group session and allow you to explore specific concerns or challenges in more detail.

The session is a structured coaching conversation, guided by your individual

needs. As your coach I will ask questions to help unlock your thinking and help move you towards your desired goal or outcome. The sessions are a safe non-judgemental safe to talk to someone independent and confidentially and create an action plan that is right for you.

Sessions can be taken at any point in the parenting journey but are typically:

• During pregnancy / the run up to parent / adoption leave

• Pre return to work

• Anytime in the first 12 months after returning from leave.

The sessions can be used to address any worries, concerns, challenges, goals in relation to becoming / being a new parent and work life balance.

Some examples bought to sessions

by expectant parents are:

• Concerns over handover

• FOMO (fear of missing out)

• Struggling to let go of work

• Difficult conversations with others

• Career plans / progression

• Managing anxiety

Some examples brought by new parents

returning or newly returned to work are:

• Overwhelm

• Work Life balance

• Childcare plans

• Guilt / shame around balancing parenting

   and professional roles

• Setting/maintaining boundaries

• Difficult conversations with others

• Loss of confidence

• Career plans /progression

• Change in identity

• Time Management

PARENT SUPPORT NETWORK

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT PARENTS OFTEN SAY IS THEY HAD NO IDEA HOW LONELY IT WOULD FEEL BEING A NEW PARENT.

There is huge value in having other people who are on the parenting journey at the same time as us. We may have good friends and family, but there is only so much about how little sleep or the colour of baby’s poo that they are actually interested in.

Having other parents to share the highs and lows with is so important. A safe space to ask the questions that feel silly, to cry and to giggle together as you watch your babies grow.

When I reflect on my personal journey one of the most valuable things, I had was colleagues (now great friends) who had babies at a similar time to me to navigate the return to work with. Unlike my NCT friends they got the specific industry I worked in and the pressures I faced. They were there to wipe my tears or buy me a coffee after a difficult nursery drop off, and to boost my confidence to create opportunities and continue to develop professionally.

Creating support networks for parents I work with is something I feel hugely passionate about. Nothing makes me happier than seeing groups of parents still meeting up years after they met in my sessions.

I facilitate What’s app groups to give you a safe space to chat 24 hours a day so you never need to feel alone.

I also organise regular social sessions In Leicestershire where you can come along and meet other parents and babies, sometimes we go for a walk, sometimes we drink coffee and there is almost always cake!

When you join WorkBabyLife you become part of our tribe of working parents that have your back.

We look forward to meeting you.
